Redmi Note receives a price cut in India: Now sells for Rs 7,999

1With Xiaomi teasing to launch Redmi Note 2 today in China, old generation Redmi Note received a price cut here in India today. Redmi Note will now sell for Rs 7,999 via the top three e-commerece platforms viz. Flipkart,Amazxon and Snapdeal, hence giving it a price cut of Rs 2,000.

The Note was launched by Xiaomi in India back last year round October. At that time the Chinese giant has launched two variants of the highly successful device in India-3G and the 4G. While the 3G variant housed a Mediatek 6592 SoC inside, the 4G came with a lower clocked Snapdragon 410. Pricing the 3G device lower at Rs 8,999 meant that the 3G variant went of the shelf faster the other one. But soon Xiaomi got in a tangle with Ericcson which led the SUpreme Court ban all Mediatek based devices in India. Later with the launch of YU Yureka with SD615,13MP IMX135 camera Redmi Note soon lost it’s sweet spot. We believe this pric cut was long due as Redmi Note 4G was simply not selling according to Xiaomi’s liking ever since the induction of Yureka.
